Federal healthcare reform, specifically, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was passed into law by Congress in March, 2010. The legislation was passed after a year of intense debate on the pros and cons of the federal government's role and responsibilities in providing or increasing access to healthcare for its citizens. In this article, Stokowski does not rehash the debate, but offers insights on the implications of PPACA from two nationally known nurse leaders.
